It all started when Phil learned how to pick wild mushrooms from his grandmother as a small boy. The lessons and passion for picking fungus stayed with him into adulthood. His hobby took a detour when he ended up living in Hawaii for nearly 20 years (not much in the edible category on Oahu!). When he met Sue in Hawaii, they found they had a common interest in hiking. Those adventures will be shared in another album. In 2000, Phil and Sue moved to Northern California and “Phil and Sue’s Mushroom Hunting Adventures” began. It brought the passion for mushrooms and hiking together in one fun activity. Along the way, they have met lots of wonderful fellow mushroom hunters, hung out with a few experts/mycologists, attended a few mushroom seminars/classes, tagged along on a few organized forays, went to a few Fungus Fairs, had a fabulous time at Camp Mushroom at Sea Ranch, joined a few Fungus groups/message boards and have been sharing their passion with family and friends...and found quite a lot of mushrooms along the way.

We have put this album together to share our fungal foray memories with you all and for those who are curious about fungus. It is also a way for us to look back at the years when we had a mother-lode of a particular mushroom and study the weather conditions of that year which led up to the great find.

Up at the top of every page you will find a navigation menu for highlights throughout the years and other items.  For complete albums of every year, click on the “Photos by Year” link above.  Hope you all enjoy the fun fungus memories as much as we did making them and sharing them.

Albums 2000 thru 2003 are still under construction.
